Costumes Öper Öpis, 2008

  • A performance piece by Zimmermann & de Perrot, Zürich
  • Tailoring by Schauspielhaus Zürich

For the performance piece Öper Öpis, the Swiss expression for “Somebody Something”, Martin Zimmermann and Dimitri de Perrot invited five circus artists and a dancer to join them on stage. The movable floor, on which the acrobats display their skills, tilts at different angles, creating a sense of instability that is integral to the choreography of the piece.
The costumes are developed specifically for the different characters and their artistic skills. They are enriched with components from the world of circus, disco and showbiz. The two hosts who perform the roles of DJ/conductor and waiter/caretaker are dressed alike to highlight their role as a double act. Precise sets of colours define the appearance of their guests: the golden contortionist girl, the white-faced gigolo porter, the pink prima ballerina, the colourful, lightweight aerialist and her herculean clown.
