The hand-tufted rug Karpett – as the pun in the work’s title suggests – is a playful take on materiality and material. Parquet and carpet, two seemingly opposite surfaces within the context of interiors, become entangled in one product and one serves as camouflage for the other.
Karpett is part of the project The Bare Necessities, which explores and questions the classics of so-called hometextiles and which was conceived of for a solo exhibition at Tuchinform Winterthur.
